We're well into wedding season and as themed weddings are big at the moment, we’ve pulled together a wee guide on how to incorporate whisky into your big day. At Reza Wood Designs we make a range of innovative whisky barrel gifts and furniture which are sure to add a bit of individuality to your special moment. Scotland has a lot to be proud of and whisky is one of our most successful products around the world so we’d highly recommend adding a bit of Scottish heritage. A personal whisky tasting session If you’re not sure how your guests feel about whisky, this can be a gentle introduction. Set up a whisky tasting area so guests can try a range of drams. You could include your own favourite drams or make it a blind tasting with guests trying each one and voting for their favourite or guessing the distillery or whisky region. Add one of our whisky tasting trays as a display piece, engraved with your names and wedding date to make it even more memorable and we can even customise with your wedding tartan or Harris Tweed. Here's one we created recently with red Harris Tweed inserts and the couple's names and wedding date engraved. The wedding ToastIf you are having a more traditional wedding and having whisky as your toast, you may wish to use a quaich, a traditional Scottish drinking cup and a symbol of friendship, used to share a dram together. Our quaichs are created from sustainable Scottish hardwoods, each one is individually made and makes a great keepsake of your first toast together as a married couple. Attention grabbing centre piecesYou can take it from us that there’s nothing better than a nice peaty whisky aroma. So why not go a step further, as well as naming your tables after whisky distilleries you can add whisky barrel tealight holders to each table, we offer a range of sizes but would recommend our heart tealights for a round table or our long stave tealight holders for longer tables for a more intimate or smaller gathering. Gifts for the wedding party Continue the theme with whisky barrel personalised gifts for the wedding party or favours. Some of our most popular gifts for weddings are cufflinks, mini tealight holders or our whisky tasting trays. All can be engraved with a personal message like your names and the date of your wedding. For favours we would suggest our whisky barrel keyrings engraved as a permanent reminder of the occasion. Distillery weddingIf you are thirsty for more then why not get married and hold your reception at a distillery? There’s so much history to discover at many of Scotland’s distilleries and a whole lot of atmosphere to soak up, not to mention great potential for some unusual wedding photograph backdrops. One of our personal favourites is Annandale Distillery near Dumfries which is available to hire for your ceremony and reception with the opportunity to have photos taken in the still house and even to have your own whisky cask painted! Whisky rules! These are just a few ideas on how to bring whisky into your wedding. If you are thinking of having a whisky themed wedding we’d love to hear from you!
